Rent to a Refugee

Housing and neighborhood development are serious discussions and relevant issues to every community, but most especially in revitalized and growing communities such as Knoxville and Chattanooga. Renting homes and apartments to refugees is one way to help your community, your business/property, and the refugee community.  Refugees and landlords can have mutually beneficial relationships to create stable neighborhoods as they are committed to beginning new, fruitful, and engaged lives as New Americans in their resettlement cities. Refugees often: are loyal tenants, bring good work and rental payment ethics, are extremely unlikely to engage in criminal activities, are teachable and come with strong community support, and also have economic and employment planning support their first few months in the United States. If you or someone you know would be interested in renting to a refugee in Knoxville, please contact Senior Case Manager, Savanna Norrod. For Chattanooga inquiries, contact the Pre-Arrival Specialist, Jennifer Croxall.

“I have been involved as a landlord with the Bridge Refugee Program for over six months. I find their clients to be grateful for the opportunity to live in Knoxville and are excellent renters. The Bridge Staff are available to answer any questions I may have and provide support services for their clients. I look forward to our continued relationship.”
